I have R1100S, it currently has 18k, when I start the bike, it's sounds like the drive belt is loose, like a car. Only does this when the engine is cold. It only last 2-3 seconds. I thought my alternator belt was loose but was not the problem. I even took off the belt and I still get the sound. The sound is coming from the lower pulley, what can it be?My BMW makes a loose belt sound when I start in the morning or when engine is cold?Well if you take the belt off and it still makes the squeal then something is rubbing something else. Could be that your timing adjusters are worn and the chains are hitting the metal until the oil gets to them. Could be the front seal is wearing and the crank pulley is hitting metal to metal til oil gets to it. Could be the front crank bearing (But I doubt that would last 2-3 full seconds).
How much clearance is there between the crank pulley and the belt cover? It could be that the pulley is rubbing against the inside of the cover. Look for marks on the back of the cover. My BMW makes a loose belt sound when I start in the morning or when engine is cold?check the belt for cracks if there are any in it then replace it
also check the tensioner it may need replaced and they are commonly weak due to ageMy BMW makes a loose belt sound when I start in the morning or when engine is cold? Its normal, its just caused by wet belt from condensation air. Just readjust ur belt and put a bit of powder, u can use yours.
