Has anyone heard of a batterey charger for BmW Moterbike, that takes up to 4 days to trickle charge?

my boss claims that is how to charge his bike batterey up, but i have never heard of this before and think he is wrong. Can anyone help. The bike is BMW RS1100.Has anyone heard of a batterey charger for BmW Moterbike, that takes up to 4 days to trickle charge?Put it this way, the higher the charge the shorter life of the battery. A battery stuck in the corner and left to charge on one amp will last a lot longer than one that regularly uses say a twenty amp charge. You can make any charger last four days simply by turning the charge down. For example there are 96 hours in four days so if you battery was a 96 amper hour battery it would take four days on a one amp chargeHas anyone heard of a batterey charger for BmW Moterbike, that takes up to 4 days to trickle charge?
What you want is a "Battery Tender" which can be left hooked up any time you're not riding it. It decides when to charge, trickle charge, or do nothing.

If your bike has a "Powerlet" socket you can get an adapter for it.Has anyone heard of a batterey charger for BmW Moterbike, that takes up to 4 days to trickle charge?Slambob is correct. BMWs used to come with their version of a battery tender

I got mine at the honda shop. I hook up my beemer to it if I'm not going to be riding for over a week.Has anyone heard of a batterey charger for BmW Moterbike, that takes up to 4 days to trickle charge?
Your boss is correct: There are many 'trickle chargers' for bikes, boats %26amp; lawnmowers that have a very slow charge - many can safely be left connected for months on end to maintain the condition of the battery.

The smaller 'leisure' batteries are usually gel filled %26amp; don't like high rate chargers.Has anyone heard of a batterey charger for BmW Moterbike, that takes up to 4 days to trickle charge? You can buy these from halfords too !!

Trickle charger .... bit like a phone charger reallyHas anyone heard of a batterey charger for BmW Moterbike, that takes up to 4 days to trickle charge?
I have an R1150RS and that has a outlet to plug in a charger. Get the adaptor from yout local agent

I put all my bikes on an Accumate over the winter and the less used ones get a few days charge once a month during the summer

The accumate keeps the battery topped up without putting a high charge in to the battery

Hope this helps
It's called an Optimate and is widely available from bike shops. I use one on my R1150GS. Great piece of kit.
