I want to buy a BMW 2001 325 or 330 and i was wondering how good are these cars at around 100k miles?

I also was wondering how hard is it to find a good machine shop for bmw enginesI want to buy a BMW 2001 325 or 330 and i was wondering how good are these cars at around 100k miles?I still have my 2001 330 and it now has120k miles. Sadly it is not as cheap to repair as most Asian cars. And at certain intervals in its lifespan you really have to contend with costly repairs. But when properly maintained it is a joy to drive and its handling and performance is way above what other cars can give.

Going back to your original question, have the car checked by a real BMW technician not a shade-tree pretender. Invest in about $100. to $150. to get a proper evaluation of the car's condition. Also check the previous owner's maintenance and repair records (including accident records if possible).

At 100k miles it is recommended that the spark plugs %26amp; 02 sensors be replaced. But there are a lot of things that can go wrong at this point like the DSC module, steering and coolant hoses, coolant expansion tank, etc. etc.

And once you buy the car it is safer to have a full service done on its operating fluids like engine oil, transmission and differential oils. Have the fuel filter replaced too.

So as a rule, if you do not have the patience or the money to support buying an old BMW then do not do it.I want to buy a BMW 2001 325 or 330 and i was wondering how good are these cars at around 100k miles?machine shop for BMW engines? why on EARTH would you say that??

They're solid cars.

Some of BMW's most solid cars I find were built around that year.

E46's are GREAT cars... just check for suspension bushings, water pump leaking, thermostat leaking, etc.. all the basics..

But a machine shop... It's not often I hear that word and BMW together... yikes... machine shop makes me think of fixing grandpa's tractor.I want to buy a BMW 2001 325 or 330 and i was wondering how good are these cars at around 100k miles?Stay away. They are a money pit, that old. Getting work done on it is costly. Parts alone expensive.

I had a 318i 2000 paid 12000 in 2004 and by 18months later is was rusting away. Doors, rockers, fenders. sold it for 3500.
