What are the benefits for eating mediterranean food?

Im thinking about doing the mediterranean diet. What are some benefits from it and some yummy recipes? I'm soooo excited! What are the benefits for eating mediterranean food?
In the Mediterranean countries people eat a lot of vegetables and get their proteins from mainly beans, lentils and nuts, instead of meat. here in Greece where I live we often have several vegetable dishes for dinner. You麓ll find that you麓ll get tons of energy. The best effect is long term: You麓ll reduce you chances for many serious illnesses. The Greek Mediterranean diet is supposed to be one of the healthiest diets in the world.

Good luck! What are the benefits for eating mediterranean food?
Lots of tomatoes, green peppers, kale, olive oil [for everything, even baked goods], and the most marvelous ethnic foods %26amp; recipes you ever saw. Benefits? My so-called "coronary diet" reads like a shopping list for a Mediterranean market...onions, garlics, greens, "red things" like peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, brown rice or bulghour or cous-cous, pasta in lieu of potatoes, etc. Couldn't go wrong. Google up Greek, Armenian or Italian recipe suggestions and go for it.
