I don't believe for a moment that the Mediterranean diet includes little meat or cheese (that is a gross misconception) and that it is more healthy due to this.
It's more healthy because it doesn't contain a lot of processed food and along with plenty of meat it includes plenty of fruit and vegetables and legumes. It is not industrialised and it is more balanced and that's the essence of it.
