Mediterranean diet, meat reducer, piscavore or pescatarian… whichever word you like to give omnivores who only eat fish, do you think we should try to get them a section?
I am sure to get lots of rude answers for this, but the pescavore/tarians probably have it tough. When they ask in the general food section about dishes where the only meat/ animal used is fish, they probably get lots of “eat steak” answers.
Then they try to come to the vegetarian section to ask about eating sea animals, which then annoys (and sometimes offends) vegetarians because vegetarians don’t eat animals.
Maybe if they got their own section, they could exchange lots of fish recipes and be happy to be around others like themselves.
YA does add sections on occasion, so maybe if enough people asked, they could get their own little panel in YA.
What are your thoughts?
:)V%26amp;V Friends: Do you think we should ask YA for a "Mediterranean Diet" section?
I think it's a great idea. I always hate to see the fish-eaters bashed as bad as the meat-eaters bash us. I am among the multitude that feels that the word vegetarian is not appropriate, but no one should be put down because they don't do it all the way. I think having another section would be a good way for them to feel more comfortable and accepted. Let's just hope vegetarians don't go in their section to harass them like meat-eaters come in our section to harass us.
What's the point? Yahoo wouldn't enforce it anyway!
Need I point out that Yahoo has ignored quite literally thousands of requests to split the Religion section into sub-categories or at least make an atheist section? They also ignore the requests to split politics! Finally, there was a push at one time to add a "Meat" category to the food section!! Yahoo ignored *those* requests also!
And just to make things clear, I DO NOT care what types of animal people eat as long as they don't claim to be some form of vegetarian or use those -arian names that the Cattleman's Assoc. invented (yes, that's STILL the earliest source I've ever found for those obscenities). But I have nothing but scorn for the twits that eat animals and claim -arian and I'm GLAD they have things tough!!V%26amp;V Friends: Do you think we should ask YA for a "Mediterranean Diet" section?
I don't think they would need their own section if we could all be a little nicer (that's in all sections, not just in V%26amp;V). I don't find it offensive when someone asks a question about being a "pescaterian" or whatever. We don't have to answer questions if we don't want to.
I have also noticed that a lot of people who aren't vegetarian, vegan OR "pescaterian" come here looking for nutritional advice because they have seen that most of us are pretty knowledgable in this area and most of the people in "Diet and Fitness" are on the protein/Atkins kick. I have answered several of these questions where a lot of the answers were very hateful.
I do realize that there a lot of trolls in here, but I have seen many genuine questions get torn to pieces. We aren't being any better than the trolls when we act this way.
If they did add a section though, perhaps it should be something like "Healthy Eating." or "Special Diets"? This way you could include everyone who eats a special "healthy" diet. People on the DASH diet, Mediterranean Diet, Diabetics, Lupus Diet, etc could all have somewhere to discuss healthier eating without the animosity.
I don't see a problem with that. Maybe they'd get tired of all that fish and decide to start eating legumes. It would reduce some confusion and clutter also.V%26amp;V Friends: Do you think we should ask YA for a "Mediterranean Diet" section?
I see your reasoning but do not agree they have a dilemma where to post questions.
They are meat eaters, so the general food and drink would be the place to post a question.
Would we stop at fish ? what about chicken, or those that call themselves semi/demi/flexis. The Meddi section would potentially solve one of the issues with the V%26amp;V section but the wider issue is one of people knowing what THEY are, not WHERE to post questions
Judging by the amount of comments and users we have i would think an "Ashley" section would be higher up thier priotity list
You can ask, but don't expect to get any results. Someone will rievew the question(maybe) and you'll get the automated response "We do not have any current plans to have an ______ section...."
Well Lillyian, those who eat fish, and no other meat are still called omnivores, however some of the names you mentioned have been suggested.Fish is a very important part of the Mediterranean diet,However they do eat a lot of Jamon and other cuts of pork,as well as beef and chicken. You are correct,I also think having a section for fish eaters only is a good idea. The Mediterranean diet is so healthy because it does consist of a lot of fish and vegetables.I live on the coast of Spain ( Valencia ) and my wife is from here.I like certain sea food, but I detest fish as a rule.Well any way,I think you have a good idea.
i doubt if yahoo will improvise...
they're not trying as hard as they used to.
I think it would be worth a try.... but I'm not sure it would work. Many would use it but.... there are still those who think they are vegetarians who just eat fish :) and some...... not all but some..... would come here and say the same things anyway because there are those who are here for a poke at us...
The good side to this is.... it would give the meaty trolls somewhere to split their time....
I'll go for it.
I don't see such happening any time soon, if at all.
I don't see why they can't just post comments in the "food general" or "diet" sections depending upon the point that they are coming from.
The problems mostly come from those that go to a comment only to cause problems (as can be seen in this particular area) and irritate. Another area isn't going to stop such people.
dafuzzy
short answer: NO
O.K.
Maybe we can get one for juicertarians also.
That would be a great idea.
Wow, I like your hat.
I vote we call it the "Lillyian and Ashley's new sections list."
