How to work for bmw or mercedes dealership?
what is the best way to get a job working at a bmw or mercedes benz dealership. I am currently a college business student and I want to go into the dealership industry some day in the future. How to work for bmw or mercedes dealership? There is a company called Auto Nation that owns some Mercedes dealerships. They are also known as Champion Auto Group in some areas. Google Auto Nation and look at opportunities. That is one way. I will warn you that they may not pay too much. Some positions such as parts and service advisors are on pure comission. One reason I did not go to work for them and there are other reasons. With you being young, it would be a good learning ground and a start. Also, just use the direct approach. Go into dealers and hand them your resume. Try to talk to their human resources people or managers of departments. If they see you are interested, they could hire you. Good luckHow to work for bmw or mercedes dealership?

I have a 2003 bmw 330i and my power steering steering fluid is leaking?
Whats the difference between STP power steering fluid and Mobile Dexron III ATF? I know Mobile is synthetic and BMW recommends ATF and not power steering fluid. Would it hurt putting the STP power steering fluid in?I have a 2003 bmw 330i and my power steering steering fluid is leaking?STP and Mobil are brand names. Dexron III is a product category or classification of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) based on accepted engineering standards (usually ASE).
Power steering fluid is a general term to mean the fluid used or put into power steering systems. It can be ATF (Dexron III type as required by BMW for your car) or some such fluid specific to the car like the green colored CHF-11S for newer BMW and other cars.
I recommend that you stick with known brands of Dexron III.
And do not just replace or top-off the fluid. Find the cause of the leak and remedy it. Replace hoses and clamps as needed.little ceasars

Whats the difference between BMW's e32 750 IL and 750 IAL?
I recently noticed that the door frame of my 1990 BMW 750 il actually says 750 IAL.
Whats the difference?Whats the difference between BMW's e32 750 IL and 750 IAL?Both are the same, except at one point the marketing department saw it fit to point out that the car is an Automatic. By the E32, BMW was making big progress to their automatic transmissions. It meant a lot to them.Whats the difference between BMW's e32 750 IL and 750 IAL?750iL is what BMW put on the car and what they marketed it as. What they were signifying is that this car had a V12, fuel (i)njection and a (L)ong wheelbase.
750iAL is what the car is called in-house to show that it is a model with an (A)utomatic transmission.
Any BMW with an automatic transmission is shown with an A in the model name on the inside of the door sill (eg. 540iA, 328iA, 750iAL, etc.) along with the other basic model information.
In short, it means the same thing, 750iAL is just more detailed.
And nice car by the way. Classy.Whats the difference between BMW's e32 750 IL and 750 IAL?Its called churching it up.

What is the cost of replacing the O2 sensor in BMW 528i?
I plan to buy this used BMW 528i. The O2 sensor needs to be replaced. What is the cost of replacing this? part? labor? Thanks. What is the cost of replacing the O2 sensor in BMW 528i?About $100 in part with 1 hour labor. BMW uses Bosch O2 sensor. I usually buy the part and do it myself. Takes 15 minutes tops.
The thing you have to know is that if this car has been driven with bad O2 sensor, then your Cat. converter also gets trashed. And without good cat, you won't pass emission. This is $1500 part from dealer, $400 good after market, $150 for poor quality that fall a part in a year. Potentially, the repair can be pretty expensive. Also if the car is not high mileage, then bad O2 sensor usually indicates more problem in the system, which may require engine tune up or even cylinder rebuild. Without addressing these problems, replacing O2 sensor would just extend the time. Check engine light would go on within few months again.
Common sense tells me that replacing O2 sensor is relatively cheap operation, why would the owner trying to sell the car as it is? Unless it has more serious problem? What is the cost of replacing the O2 sensor in BMW 528i?
I was quoted $225.00 total for parts and labor at a BMW dealership in Florida. My warranty covered it, but had I of paid out of pocket this would have been the damage. What is the cost of replacing the O2 sensor in BMW 528i?It depends were you want to fix it, dealer will charge about 100 to 150 for labor plust 150 for each sensore. But if you do it yourself, not that hard, you will save labor and it will only cost you 300 for 2 sensores. What is the cost of replacing the O2 sensor in BMW 528i?
My best advise is,please ask seller to get that fixed and give u trouble free car.
The seller may have regular mechanic n could easily get it fixed.
Wont it be wise.
wish u luck. What is the cost of replacing the O2 sensor in BMW 528i?There are two O2 sensors and you should replace them both. They are easy to get at after you jack up the car. An open end wrench is used to unscrew them after you unplug the connector. They run 70 to 85 dollars each. Labor should be no more than one hour, about 110 or $125.
Beware, however, that the cheaper code readers for the BMW will throw the code for replace the O2 Sensor for a variety of problems with the air and exhaust systems, such as cracks in the air intake manifold (which is what my 530i once had). If you can, have the codes read by a certified BMW mechanic, just to make certain that all that is wrong is the O2 Sensor, which , frankly, I doubt, since it is all too easy to replace them and then sell the car for more money than as it is now--with a check engine light on.
The Bentley BMW Maintenance Manuals (often found used on ebay at bargain prices) are a must for BMW owners and you can go to their Website to ask questions of BMW mechanics or Charlie, the editor of the Maintenance Manuals.

I'm looking for a specific instance in where BMW has taken/stolen a design or styling cue from a competitor?
For example, is the hofmeister kink a BMW original?I'm looking for a specific instance in where BMW has taken/stolen a design or styling cue from a competitor? The 1980s BMWs look like K-cars.
Also they are about 20 years behind the times in terms of styling (round went out with the 90s).I'm looking for a specific instance in where BMW has taken/stolen a design or styling cue from a competitor?
no such time..however they have had their looks stolenI'm looking for a specific instance in where BMW has taken/stolen a design or styling cue from a competitor? The biggest one I can think of is the current BMW K-series motorcycles in the sense of using a transverse 4-cylinder engine. Very Japanese. But that's not really a tight design item, just not BMW-like. When they made a cruiser bike (R1200C) it was still relatively unique.
In cars? Geez, love it or hate it, they make trends not take them. And that goes for as far back as I can remember (Isetta, 2002Tii, Bavaria, CSL "Batmobile", M1, ...). The 1955 507 may be similar in silhouette to other roadsters of the day but it was STILL unique.
BMW is making a new car. They are calling it the PAS for now. It looks just like the Porsche Panamera concept car in shape, which was revealed a year before the BMW.I'm looking for a specific instance in where BMW has taken/stolen a design or styling cue from a competitor?yes the dog leg is a BMW trade mark. If you look at cars like the E30 BMW and the Nissan Sentra of the same years you can see almost all the same styling lines. Also take a look at the BMW 2002's and the Datsun 510. There are alot more examples out there, but like someone on here said before, BMW makes the trends and everyone else follows.I'm looking for a specific instance in where BMW has taken/stolen a design or styling cue from a competitor?
the E92 saloon, at the back it looks like a Mitsubuishi Carisma!!!
The coupe looks like the Alfa romeo Spider 1990 model!!!
When BMW moved the door on the Isetta to the normal position (side of the car), they stole the design from the majority of cars.
All kidding aside, here are some BMW cars that look similar to other cars. When the Z3 first came out, I noticed a strong resemblance to the Mazda Miata - on a larger scale. The M coupe looks a lot like the old MG coupe. The 80's 3 series coupe looks like a Sentra Coupe.
I think every auto designer takes design cues from other cars. Its inevitable, since you see cars on the road and you notice what looks good and what doesn't. When you design a new car, those likes and dislikes factor into the new design. It makes all the sense in the world - why start every design from nothing? Its the same as reinventing the wheel with every design.

ps. the new Honda Accord Sedan looks a lot like the 5 Series from behind.I'm looking for a specific instance in where BMW has taken/stolen a design or styling cue from a competitor?
The ever-famous Bangle-Butt was used on vehicles before BMW made them famous. Though I am not sure if you want to consider this as BMW stealing a design or something ...

What do you think about a 1989 BMW 3 series?
Ive been wanting an e30 BMW 3 series for a while. I know alot about engines and cars, and BMW's aren't the best I just want to know what you think. I looking for either a 318is, 323is, or 325is. Whatever comes along in my price range.
What could I do to get some more power out of one? My plans are to lower it 1-2 inches and get new wheels and tires also.
I know these cars run forever, just tell me what you think. favorite color? What do you think about a 1989 BMW 3 series? Not bad biggest let downs are cracked heads. They all crack heads no matter how ell you take care of them.. The computers are all dying right now get em fixed and your good to go.
Much better car then any newer 3 series designs. Its a completely different car than today's modern 3 series. Very cheap to fix and the parts are cheap too.
People have "souped" them up over the years but they all died soon. There were aftermarket heads and what not but the fact remains you add power/you shorten the engines life before repair.
Over all the 3 series if I was having my arm twisted to choose a E30 I would go with a 325e very reliable. TO bad they never imported a 325e convertible I would buy one in a heartbeat. What do you think about a 1989 BMW 3 series?Sounds great I used to have a 1995 325s, and I loved that car. BMW can be pricey to get fixed.
Hey can anyone help me and take a look at my question please?

Is there any way I can put a six cylinder engine in my 95 318ti BMW?
I have a 95 318ti BMW, four cylinder, and I am in the process of remodeling and would like to upgrade my engine as well. Is there any possible way I could find a six cylinder engine to replace the one I have now and if so, would it be worth all the hassel? Is there any way I can put a six cylinder engine in my 95 318ti BMW?You should be able to replace it with a BMW 320i engine. They are the same model car but you might have to find different motor mounts. Is there any way I can put a six cylinder engine in my 95 318ti BMW?yes you can swap many different engines into that car. you could put in an M3 engine if you wanted. it would be "worth the hassle" to swap in the M3 engine if you
a. need more power
b. can deal with worse gas mileage
c. can deal with a heavier front end
d. can afford buying the M3 engine, suspension upgrades (for heavier weight), and brakes (for more weight and higher speeds), and possibly even the transmission and differential.
You can find all of these things used, but an engine swap is certainly not cheap. most people with the 318ti have one because of the peppy 4 cylinder and its compact size, making it very nimble. if you want to make your car faster you can do many other things that are cheaper and more reasonable. Is there any way I can put a six cylinder engine in my 95 318ti BMW?I agree with the last answer. It would be worth it to do the M3 swap but it might be more reasonably priced to go with a 325, 328, or 330 engine instead. I think that those engine will take less effort to swap as well.Is there any way I can put a six cylinder engine in my 95 318ti BMW?

Does anybody know how to setup bluetooth on the BMW 1 Series?
My friend just bought a BMW 1 Series and on the steering wheel it has buttons. One is a phone symbol and the other is of someone speaking. We tried pressing the buttons but we're having problems setting up the bluetooth. Does anyone know how this is done?Does anybody know how to setup bluetooth on the BMW 1 Series? The BMW 1 Series has to have the premium package or BMW assist for the bluetooth to work. You will also need a BMW compatible phone. If you have both you will first need to get your phone ready to pair to the car. Then go to the menu button near the radio controls, select BMW assist and pair the phone.
You can also bring it by any BMW dealer and we will do it for you.
Good Luck.Does anybody know how to setup bluetooth on the BMW 1 Series?Check the owner's operating manual and/or the DVD supplied with the vehicle. It will tell you a lot more in addition to how to pair a bluetooth phone and use it in the car.

I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series?
I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series? Is it a good buy? Is it better to lease than to buy the bmw 3 series? Is it good on gas? How much does the maintance costs?I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series?First of all, BMWs do not have V6 engines. They are inline 6. My M3 gets at least 25 mpg on a regular basis, unless I drive it hard for a whole tank of gas. I have hit close to 30 on long interstate drives. Not by the computer, but actually dividing the miles by the gallons on the pump.
You will love a 3 series. Maintenance is free for 4 years or 50K miles. I buy my cars, if you think you're going to keep it a lease is more in the long run. Lease = rent.
Also BMW service is top notch. I just replaced my battery today, warranty long over, they replaced it for free and did full electrical check. Turns out it was just a bad battery.I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series?
3 Series are nice! I bought a 330ci new in 2002 and loved it! I got rid of it in 04. It got 31mpg average, was a good straight line performer and even better around corners. There was nothing bad about the car. I would buy verses leasing though, you may pay more each month but you own it when it's done.I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series?Sorry about that last guy, yah gas miliage is actually good. Apparently he doesn't watch his MPG meter.
I get about 30mpg (which is actually great!). Now it depends on how you drive and ur meter helps you guage this. If i stick it on sport mode I get 8mpg average lol. You put it in regular drive and as long as your not always hard on the gas you get what you deserve. To check my city mpg I would have to calculate later on (stop and go) when I get done with a full tank. Some of the 3 Series have better Onboard Computers which will tell you your average and other things.
use the search function. about 3 billion other people have asked this question. I'm tired of answering it.I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series? You can buy a used bmw for way cheaper. Even one that is brand new and someone just drove off the lot will knock off at least 10k off a 540, m3 or m5. actually off any bmw :D Try craigslist and other websites like www.tradeexpress.com I bought a 1990 bmw 535i the other day and it runs fine great car 155k miles for $500 so you should be able to get a good deal if you search around. Keep looking! The maitnence will run you a lot and will vary depending on what car you get but make sure you can afford it before you buy it. also it depends on what kind of engine you have in it to check out the maintence costs gas prices, etc. Also take a look at how long you are going to be making payments.I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series?
A new one? Yeah they are great cars, but you could get a G37 for less than a comparably powerful 3-series(again talking new). It's decent on gas, but if you're buying a $35+K car that shouldn't be an issue. Maintainance is free for a few years if you get one new.
I own a 2004 BMW 325 CI 2dr Coupe, great car. I love the way it feels on the road so smooth and so powerful. It's a great buy you'll definitively love it. No doubt about it. Once you own a BMW you stick to BMW. All BMW's come with manufacturers warranty up until 50,000 miles. This warranty is standard and free on all BMW's. It includes everything you can think of Engine, Transmission, Electrical, A/C, Mechanical issues, Oil Changes, Brake Pads, Rotors, and even windshield wipers, etc. Basically everything. Once 50,000 miles in reached your manufacturer's warranty on the car is over and if you want to extend it you'll have to pay. However if your not the original owner of the car meaning if you didn't buy it new and someone had owned it before you. You cannot extended power train warranty (engine and trans) after 50,000 miles. I'll be honest with you this car is not good on gas. I have just a V6 2.5L engine and my car drinks so much gas. If you buy a new car you'll probably get the most out of it gas wise, but in reality BMW's drinks a lot of gas. You should expect that. If you lease one it would be a same monthly payment if you were to buy and finance one, but remember you'll probably have a mileage limit and you have to take super good care of the car. I would say consider buying or financing one because especially a new BMW they don't lose there value like other car that fast. Just remember after 50,000 miles no manufacturer's warranty. So try to get one with low miles if you buy and if not there's always dealers warranty or an outside company which is the next best thing. Parts for a BMW are pricey and after 50,000 miles warranty can be pricey. After 50,000 miles I spent $2,000 to extended my warranty for another 2 years 100,000 miles, but it was only maintenance warranty which doesn't include engine and trans, but things like oil changes, regular inspections, brake pads, rotors, etc. Overall I think your making a smart choice by thinking of getting the 3 series. I'll sure you'll be more than satisified.I am thinking about buying a bmw 3 series?
You know, BMW is going to start selling it's 1-series car in the US starting in March or April. Very impressive, not as expensive as a 3-series.
bmw suck
get a lexus or an audi.
they have the lowest crash rates.
The BMW 3 series is an awesome car. according to Motor Trend, it has better MPG than Caddilac, Infiniti, and Mercedes-Benz. There is an optional 300 horsepower V6, And their only complaint was that the screen for the radio system disapeared under polarized glasses. Motor Trend rated it first over the Infiniti G37, the Caddilac CTS, and the Mercedes-Benz C320. Just like it's competitor, the CTS, the Bimmer won a 10best trophy from Car and Driver. I've never actually driven one (i can't drive yet), but i have been in one, and the seats are very comfortable.
Do you believe BMW will still be around 20 years from now?
In your estimation, would you guess BMW will still be around 2o years from now, or out of business?Do you believe BMW will still be around 20 years from now?Yes, I think BMW would still be around 20 years from now.Do you believe BMW will still be around 20 years from now?
BMW is a well diversified company and makes one of the most highly esteemed motorcycles on the planet. While their cars tend to be overly complicated and too gimmicky their recent push toward more economical vehicles is a wise move if it is not already too late. I think BMW will still be afloat in 20 years but I would expect it to be a very different market from what we know now. I see the auto business changing more in the next 10 years than it has in the last 100 and those who are not prepared will certainly perish.Do you believe BMW will still be around 20 years from now?Absolutely! Why wouldn't they be? I don't remember seeing of them in the clunkers pile.Do you believe BMW will still be around 20 years from now?
yes i believe that because bmw is a unique companyDo you believe BMW will still be around 20 years from now?they have been there for many years and they have been successfull why not????Do you believe BMW will still be around 20 years from now?
BMW is the GM of 30 years ago...sitting back on its laurels, ignoring its customers, blaming its customers and daring people to waste money on its under performing, over priced vehicles. That is, of course, just my opinion.
BMW cars are not as good as they used to be and they are under featured for the price tag. The competition is much stiffer and any edge BMW had in driving performance is now gone.
Since BMW reliability is just average, what are people going to over pay for? Do you want the egg like X6? Do you want the herky jerky rocky drive of the X3? Can someone sell you a claustrophobic sedan without leather or bluetooth? How about an SAV that gets 10 mpg?
Look up their new Vision EfficientDynamics. 356 horsepower that will go from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds while still getting 62-75 mpg! Take that prius! Bmw also has a twin turbo diesel that gets 35mpg. Only downfall is that it looks like it is trying too hard to look futuristic.
I think that BMW will only get stronger now that they are making fuel efficient cars with lots of power. Lots of people have been waiting for "green" cars with power! These people are likely to buy a BMW.
I drive an 87 BMW with 300,000 miles on it and it still runs strong!

Does my 91 bmw 318is not have a distributor cap or rotor button?
I'm trying to tune up my new 91 bmw 318is and i cant find anybody that sells a distributor cap or rotor button does this car not have them?Does my 91 bmw 318is not have a distributor cap or rotor button?A 318i sedan have them (distributor cap, rotor and ignition coils).
But a 318is coupe does not (it already uses an ecu coupled to newer style ignition coils).
It could be hard looking for them since they are not high volume items
so non-oem replacement parts would be rare.
But I am sure your nearby BMW dealer can order it for you (of course at a premium).
Look at the right front area of your engine. If you see a distributor- looking roundish cover then yours has a distributor. Otherwise it would have a rectangular box that houses the coils.Does my 91 bmw 318is not have a distributor cap or rotor button? No my friend the M42 engine does not have distributor cap or rotor button, it is electronic distributing.
In the pic the black box closes to the cam is the distributor. As you can see there is no distributor cap or rotor button.

How much more expensive are parts for a bmw 325i compared to say honda or GMC tahoe? ie, brakes, servicing, oil change? How much more expensive are parts for a 2006 bmw 325i compared to says other vehicles like honda or trucks?Vs Honda, shockingly more.
Even VW owners in the US are shocked @ $500. routine brake maint.
BMW's strategy is if people are willing to spend so much more to buy a BMW over a Honda, they'l also accept the much higher maint %26amp; repair costs.
I guess VW's MO is reverse psychology: sell em a car w/ no "luxury" aura, and charge em luxury car maint fees and they'l think their VWs are luxury-like.How much more expensive are parts for a 2006 bmw 325i compared to says other vehicles like honda or trucks?OEM (original equipment manufacturers) BMW parts are awfully expensive. Oil changes cost no more than for American cars. Aftermarket brakes would also cost the same as American cars. Remember I said aftermarket not OEM brakes and parts. Honda OEM parts are more expensive than American company cars and trucks but not as outlandishly high priced as BMW. Shop rates at a BMW dealer is higher than American dealerships.
Test me on OEM parts such as starters, alternators, radiators, transmissions at your local BMW dealership for the car you've listed. Have you read about the dependability of Mercedes, BMW Audi lately? They're now far behind Ford and GM.

What are the costs to maintain a 2000 323i BMW?
I found a beautiful 2000 BMW 323i wanting 10k and has 110K miles on ebay, I am a honda crx --%26gt; toyota rav 4 car owner.
So I really know nothing about the upkeep of a luxury vehicle.
How much is an oil change?
Tune up?
Blue book is around 6-7k he is asking 10K can it be justified? What are the costs to maintain a 2000 323i BMW?Never buy a car on ebay, buy cars on autotrader.com, try buying local. Maintenance on luxury brands isnt that much if you are good at learning from DIYs , i save a lot of money by doing the maintenace myself. Most of the money you pay dealerships is for the labor the mechanic does. You can do an oil change yourself for less than $100.
The car is not worth 10k, you can get a 2002-2003 bmw 325i sedan with 80-90k miles for less than $10k (these are clean titled vehicles but not all of them are) on auto trader, just take a look yourself. What are the costs to maintain a 2000 323i BMW?Oil change with the inspection that the dealers do is over $300 here in louisiana.
Tune up, as far as plugs and that whole set up is over $500
No theres no way its worth 10k. The resell on the bmw's are horrible, I know as I have three of them, and if its an auto be prepared for the transmission to go out, as both of my autos did at around 105k/115k mi.

How many amps is the alternator in my 1993 BMW 525i?
I dont know what other info could be needed... its a 6 cylinder 1993 bmw 525i. the alternator went out and now i need to know how many amps it is so i can replace it. please let me know if you know the answer or at least a way to find it thanks! How many amps is the alternator in my 1993 BMW 525i?Most of the 525is use a 80 amp alternator. But, if you have a BOSCH : AL 0739X alternator it's 140 amp. I've seen both on the car. But, like i said, it's probably an 80 amp. You can order them here. http://www.autopartsworld.com/1993_bmw_5…How many amps is the alternator in my 1993 BMW 525i?They use a variety of alternator ratings. 80, 90, 105 and 140 amps.
You can see the actual rating of your current alternator printed at the back.
When replacing, always go for the higher or highest one.

Why are some BMW's certified and others are not?
Just visited the local BMW dealer for a test drive and found several used cars with few miles (%26lt;30K). Some of the cars were certified pre-owned and others were not. Sales person said it was because the techs did not have time to certify all cars, but I smell a rat. Anyone shed more light on that may be really going on?Why are some BMW's certified and others are not?CPO cars also are typically newer and low miles. It costs money to do all the inspections and fix it up to be CPO which leads to a higher sticker price. Depending on its condition it might be cheaper for the dealer to just sell it As Is instead of paying to fix it and selling it as a CPO. This doesn't mean its a bad car its just got a little more wear and tear and like any used car you should also make sure its properly checked out by someone other than the dealer before you buy.Why are some BMW's certified and others are not?BMW cpo cars have been inspected to makes sure all defects are repaired before you get them, and carry an extended factory warranty. Some of the things done in a cpo inspection include returning all non-factory items to stock, including tires and wipers. And making sure all maintenance is up to date. As well as fixing any cosmetic flaws. If looking into the purchase of a used BMW I personally wouldn't buy one that was not a certified pre-owned car. If you have any doubt that they are done right, and everything gets checked, the BMW dealer I worked for got fined $10,000 by BMW because a 750i on our lot had a non-original spare tire in the trunk. They do look at these things. Why are some BMW's certified and others are not?1 cpo is a 100+ point check, with all defects being noted/fixed, fluids up, wear replaced - within a $ margin. (check #'s vary depending on make)
#2 cpo requires clean service history at certified brand dealer.
#3 cpo has a max mileage allowance.forza motorsport 3

What is a decent odometer reading for a used BMW 840Ci?
Does anyone know what an acceptable odometer reading is for a used 840Ci because ive seen it range from 68k to 190 and from personal experience know that 100k is really nothing for a well kept BMW but i'm looking at this one specifically, any input? What is a decent odometer reading for a used BMW 840Ci?In most cases, I wouldn't putt much into the mileage that is on the car. I would be more concerned on the records and if the car was kept up with the manufacture recommendations. However, I do know some about the 8 cylinder BMW enigines. I had a 2001 740il and believe me the mileage did come into play. There are major services (and major dollars) that is required on these BMW engines. Go an ask a BMW service shop (maybe a non dealer). I had spent thousands each year and it all started after 60,000 miles. By the time it reached 90,0000, I've put more than $5000 on the car. Now, all this is moot if you really like the car. Also, you may get lucky and not have issues. But, these engines have problems and that's why the older 7's are really cheap. I kept mine because I like it. But, most people would not want to have this much expences on a older car.
Please check this out on your own. If you do pick one of these up, ask about what has been changed and if BMW factory parts were used. All this is very important.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to e-mail me. Good Luck. What is a decent odometer reading for a used BMW 840Ci?Hello

How can i adjust the time on my 2002 bmw 325i?While the time is showing in the display (use the button on the end of the turn signal stalk to cycle through the different readings until you see the time), twist the knob on the right side of the instrument cluster right or left to change the time up and down. Pushing it in will change it from 12 to 24 hour display. The knob on the right is the time, the knob on the left is the trip odometer. How can i adjust the time on my 2002 bmw 325i?there should be two buttons on the dash/speedometer.

Does it matter how the control arm bushings are pressed in the brackets on Bmw?
I have a 96 bmw 328is, im replaceing the control arms and bushings. Is there a right or wrong way to press the new bushings in the brackets? Do they have to be lined up a specific way to fit the control arm it self or does it not matter. ThanksDoes it matter how the control arm bushings are pressed in the brackets on Bmw?You can purchase the lower control arm with the new bushes already insitu.
Much easier method, and saves a lot of hassle!
otherwise, use a blow torch (plumber type will do)
Heat and burn old bushes out, and the hole will be expanded enough to quickly tap in the new ones.
Always wear suitable gloves and ear protection though!Does it matter how the control arm bushings are pressed in the brackets on Bmw?As long as they look like the old ones and they are in place exactly like the old ones were and they were undamaged during installation AND if they have arrows on them they have to line up with the arrows on the control arms casting.

On average how many miles does a well taken care of BMW last for?
I'm looking to buy one and all the ones i am seeing have over a hundred thousand miles on them but i am wondering if BMW's are like nissans and last till 220,xxx miles? And im wondering about an average well taken care of BMW not one that has been pounded into the ground. I am also talking about the versions with the V6 engines from the mid-90's.On average how many miles does a well taken care of BMW last for?The e34 5 series BMWs from the mid-90s had a design life of 300,000 miles. That means the basic car was designed to last 300,000 miles. I recently sold my 1990 535i at 250,000 miles at it was still on the original engine, transmission, starter and alternator.
The mid '90s 3 series cars (e36) used some of the same six cylinder engines but the interiors are not as durable. The car will keep running, but the interior is going to start to fall apart. Headliner may come unglued. The seats will start to wear out. The door panels will wear out. You may have problems with the sun visors too.
One of the good things about BMW is the availability of spare parts. You can get inexpensive OE mechanical parts from on-line stores. Factory Interior parts are available through BMW. You can still get factory parts for cars they made in the 1970's. Those can be expensive though. If you are broke, the car will keep running without a door panel or a sun visor.
BTW BMW does not make V6 engines. BMW 6 cylinders are inline 6 or I-6 for short. Older BMW I-6 engines are very durable. The 'big six' M30 engine used in the old 5 and 7 series can run forever. On average how many miles does a well taken care of BMW last for?
This is VERY true I work on them all the time..
Older BMWs from around 1981 to 1982 to before before the change over years 1988-89 for the 5 and 7 series. 1990 and under for the 3 series. (8 has allways been high performance GARBAGE) are the good BMWs. As long as the body has no damage or previous damage is worth repairing everytime it is extermely hard to "pound them into the ground". They are just cars time and milage has little effect on. The newer BMWs to well into the future are just total crap they look good and have loads of toys and have OK power. Some day in the near future if you buy ANY newer bmw I described as junk above you will say or think to yourself "I wish I listened to that guy" The brand new BMWs are great if you can handle the shop time and loaner cars.... Till the warrenty runs out... If BMW kept building the cars like the good years they might very well be out of business today..On average how many miles does a well taken care of BMW last for?I believe it would be some where around 130 to 170.
But I know if you want your car to last you have to keep all of the fluids and all of the other maintenance like your fuel filter, timing belt, air filter, and etc. changed at the correct intervals. The number one reason why people's engines go out is because they don't change thier oil and oil filter. You have to change you oil and filter every 3,000 miles or 3 months. Some of the newer cars are different now, so check your manual. It will tell you all of your scheduled maintenance and that is what you should follow if you want your car to last forever. Also when something messes up, fix it ASAP even if you can still drive it.
P.S. I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 350,000 miles!
I have a 1986 BMW 528e with 240,000 miles, a 1988 BMW 735i with 120,000 miles on it, and another 1988 BMW 735i with 275,000 miles on it. all of them run in near perfect condition. On average how many miles does a well taken care of BMW last for?300,00 miles. On average how many miles does a well taken care of BMW last for?
I have had two 3series and a 520 and each has done 150,000 miles before being returned to the lease company
Best cars I have ever driven
Don't buy without service history though
When they go wrong it is expensive as my son has just found out £1500 for a gearbox on his 125000 miles on 3 series but the engine is perfect!!
/ All BMW's that are 'well taken care of' will last years and miles beyond your own lifetime.
That being said, subjectively it isn't uncommon to find a BMW at 300,000 if well taken care of.
My dad owns two 25 year old Mercedes' with each having over 250,000 on the original engines.
I own two BMW's which I take care of - no matter what the cost, and they keep going, too.
I also own a different make 25 year old vehicle in excellent mechanical and physical condition with a little over 34,000 miles.
It is all subjective. If you take car of a BMW, it will last as long as you keep taking care of it.
My 2000 323ci convertible needed a new automatic transmission, and I knew ahead of time that these cars were made with a transmission that wouldn't last forever. At 85,000 miles it went out, and I simply handed it over to the mechanic who replaced it. Two days later, I was able to drive it again with a new transmission. No big deal to me, but for some it is. I don't want to drive a Chevy Cobalt.
It is all subjective. Either, I can't afford it, therefore it is expensive to fix, or I can afford it, therefore it isn't expensive to fix.On average how many miles does a well taken care of BMW last for?
They last forever if well serviced. By the way they're straight 6s not Vs
BMW six cylinder engines are all in line, not Vs.
There are three types, the M30, M40 and M50.
I have an M30 in my E24, I had the head off at 262,000km and the cylinder bore still had the cross hatching on it.
My E28 had 360xxxkms on it and was still going strong.
Different models have there own quirks and it really helps if you're a bit handy because paying Fritz to do maintenece can get expensive.
The mid 90s cars that had 6s were the E34, E36 and E32.
Obviously your looking to save a buck. Theres no free ride. Parts for BMWs are VERY expensive. Keep that in mind.
BMW doesn't have a V6, only straight 6. My uncle had a 1993 e36, and he finally got rid of his with nearly 280,000 miles on it. Keep in mine, he took excellent care of it, and drove it easily almost every day of its life. For the people saying they are extremely expensive to fix, not always. Example, in one week, my car blew a radiator, and the secondary air pump (common problems with my model, with that many miles). The dealership wanted $1500 to fix those, and a local mechanic wanted $1400. I went on Ebay, found the correct products, and bought them from a reputable seller, both with a 6 month warranty, for under $300! I then had them installed by the local mechanic, and ended up paying under $500 total! Saved almost $1000 doing it myself.
BMW's will last forever, if they are taken care of. Your day to day driving, and overall maintence determine the life of your car, regardless of the badge on the hood. Treat it right, and it will do the same in return.

What is the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?
I was wondering if anyone knew the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! What is the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?The car should have around 200HP so the top speed should be around 140mph.
The 325i reaches 142mph.
The 328i reaches 145mph.
The 330i reaches 147mph.
The M3 reaches 155mph.What is the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?
bimmers are limited to 155. i say the 323 can hit about 140+, depending on your gearboxWhat is the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?i say find out for yourself ;)What is the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?
All BMWs entering the US (even the ///M's) are required, by law, to be limited to 155 mph. Depending on your gearbox (stick or auto?) you're good for around 142 +/-.What is the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?Limited to 155mph but it would go faster if you got a chip for a couple hundred bucks to bypass it. I would take the BMW to the autobahn in its own country and test it out! What is the top speed of a 2000 BMW 323i?
155mph, thats with the speed limiter active

How do i know if i need to replace a starter or flywheel on bmw?
i have a 1985 bmw 325e that makes a really loud noise when i try to turn it on.. it sounds like metal scraping against each other..could it be that i need a new starter or flywheel? if so how much would it cost for the part and how much do mechanics usually charge to fix that kind of problem? How do i know if i need to replace a starter or flywheel on bmw?The starter can be removed from the vehicle and tested electrically on a bench tester. The flywheel can be inspected visually for broken teeth and such (you can do this with the flywheel still installed, by turning the engine and watching through the starter window, but it's better to remove it).
Parts costs for both will vary depending on year and model. Total cost for repair will depend on how long it takes to complete the job (mechanics charge by the hour, around $75/hr), in addition to parts cost. How do i know if i need to replace a starter or flywheel on bmw?
chances are the starter is bad (the teeth that engage on the flywheel worn down or broken this is called the bendix gear if i recall correctly) however if you let this continue it can damage the teeth on the flywheel so get it checked out/ repaired. How do i know if i need to replace a starter or flywheel on bmw?Starts Good (Kinda) just Loud? To check the Starter needs to be Removed. Look at the Bendix Gear (Gear that engages with the Flywheel), Have the engine Cranked over with a ratchet while you look at all the teeth on the Flywheel, also Check the Flywheel Bolt Tension while you're there.
NOTE; Check The Flywheel No Matter what the Condition of the Starter! How do i know if i need to replace a starter or flywheel on bmw?
most likely just a starter, unless the starter has damaged the flywheel. you'll have to take off the starter to tell anywayHow do i know if i need to replace a starter or flywheel on bmw?If the starter is removed the pinion gear on the starter and the flywheel ring gear can be inspected. You wont need a flywheel just a ring gear put on to the flywheel

I was quoted at $800 to have brake service when all I hear is a slight noise when I brake for 94 BMW. Help?
I have a BMW 325i 94 and quoted me at 800 dollars for brake pads and rotors when I did an inspection. All I hear is a slight noise when I brake on my driver side tire. Rotors are not warped just old. No vibrations. What should I do? I would change them myself but am away from home for 5 months.I was quoted at $800 to have brake service when all I hear is a slight noise when I brake for 94 BMW. Help?I bet you went to BMW to get it fixed. Thats your reason. My brake light was on in my x5 and they wanted $300 just to look at it. Go to some cheap mexican thats what I did and it worked. Find somebody that services bmw's and get it done.I was quoted at $800 to have brake service when all I hear is a slight noise when I brake for 94 BMW. Help?
you could get the brakes pretty cheap from a place that sells performance parts. Often they also stock oem parts. Check out: www.koperformance.com
You didn't say whether or not this was a dealer price. If it was then I would have someone who is a foreign (German) car specialist take a look at your brakes and give you a second opinion. I would stick with OEM BMW parts and not go with aftermarket ones which may be cheaper in price and quality. No matter who you have do your brakes you should use the OEM parts. All brakes are NOT the same some of the newer BMW's actually have sensors on them that pulse the brakes after they get wet to dry the moisture from the rotors. Trust the car to someone who knows what they are doing. Maintaining high quality cars costs money. Rotors are pretty expensive, a complete brakejob for my Dodge Ram was $600. If you can change them yourself, why not wait until you get home?
seems about right for a BMW at the dealer. i would go somewhere else thats cheaper since brakes are brakes nothing special.

I was quoted at $800 to have brake service when all I hear is a slight noise when I brake for 94 BMW. Help?Lets start this by saying that you own a BMW, they are a high line car and nothing is cheap to fix on one. If you went to a BMW dealer and they quoted you brakes, then they are probably just worn out, that is probably why you are hearing that noise. The reason for the rotors being quoted too is that the rotors wear out and get too thin with just one set of brake pads. BMW rotors are made of a softer metal than most other manufactures use, they do this because it makes the car stop better. I do not recomend putting aftermarket brakes on your car, for a couple of differant reasons. The first one being that it is ok to buy cheap parts sometimes but not on your brakes, the cheap brakes will not stop the car as well. The second one being that I have seen nothing but problems with aftermarket brakes for BMW's, they make all kinds of wierd noises and will somtimes act like thay are warpped.I was quoted at $800 to have brake service when all I hear is a slight noise when I brake for 94 BMW. Why should you buy a MBZ instead of BMW as your luxury car of choice?
What reasons would you buy a Mercedes instead of a BMW as your luxury car of choice? Why should you buy a MBZ instead of BMW as your luxury car of choice?MBNZ and BMW are two totally different vehicles... i am an owner of both a 2002 S500 and a 2003 745i.... bmw will not last worth a **** compared to my mercedes... my S500 right now has 261,000 miles on it... Yes two hundred sixty one thousand miles!!! my bmw has only 40k... my bmw gives me more headaches and problems than anything else... but once again you cant compare the two... bmw has a nice aggressive drive and has a different feel to it, mercedes has that nice feel when you drive you know you're driving luxury.... basically between the S and the 7.. illl choose the S... between the E and the 5.. ill choose the E... between the C and the 3... any day ill choose the C... bmw connot even compete with the CLS... also Mercedes offers so many varieties of engines VS bmw only has 1 or 2 per class......Why should you buy a MBZ instead of BMW as your luxury car of choice?
BMW will last longer than Mercedes. Its much better looking and better quality.
It depends on how the car fits me. I buy a car for comfort not status. I have driven several models of each Benz %26amp; BMW and like a few of each. Buy the one YOU want not what someone else "Thinks" you should have...Why should you buy a MBZ instead of BMW as your luxury car of choice? The main reason someone buys a Merc over an Audi, BM, or other luxury models is prestige. Although for your particular choice, the CLS, it is definatley a looker, if you got the AMG version then it's quite the rocket as well.
I would take the CLS over a 5 or 7 series, but not an M5.Why should you buy a MBZ instead of BMW as your luxury car of choice?
DAM you got that cls 500 whats the problem thats the 4 door coupe
There are several advantage an MB has over BMW in the area of luxury.
MBs are true luxury cars. They have been for many years.
BMWs have always been sporty cars that only recently have gravitated heavily into the luxury arena, while MB is a luxury car that has been more heavily into sport in recent years.
MB just does luxury better. Dealer service is better. Paint is much higher quality. Cabin noise is less. Ride is nicer and more serene.
Aesthetically the cars (particularly the CLS) are more elegant and classy.
There is also the image piece. The cache' of the three pointed star cannot be matched by any BMW.
Overall, the car companies in recent years really have moved toward each other. The differences between the two are slowly disappearing as the companies try to be more things to more people.
Still, MB still sets the luxury standard, while BMW still is the sportier choice.
As for me personally, I drive an E55 AMG because the performance is sublime while offering the luxury in daily driving that BMW cannot. Why should you buy a MBZ instead of BMW as your luxury car of choice?
I choose a MBZ over a BMW, because MBZ designs seems to last the test of time better, and are better innovators than BMW
well if for luxury a mercedes for sport bmw. a mercedes is much more of a luxury car but a bmw is more of a sporting car

What engine swaps are possible with for a 1990 BMW 525i, where would you go and how much would one cost? What engine swaps are possible with a 1990 BMW 525i?For a 1990 e34 525i (assuming a m20 motor), you could swap in a later e34 m50 2.5L or a later m52 2.8L from a e39 528i. However, a better swap would be a m50 3.5L from a similar vintage e34 535i. Parts can be found easily at salvage yards. Cost for labor if not DIY would probably cost more than a 525i is worth and it would be better to sell and get a complete 535i already done.

Is there any possible way to change the head unit in a 2000 BMW 323i?
ok so im wanting to change the head unit in my 2000 BMW 323i to an after market head unit for subs and ive read that there is some flashing red light that turns on and then you cant get radio signal? is this true? and is it possible to change the head unit?Is there any possible way to change the head unit in a 2000 BMW 323i?the head unit is very easy to remove. pop off the trim on either side of the unit (i just use a flat head screwdriver with a rag over it to avoid scratching). there's 1 screw on each side of the unit, and then it just slides right out.
keep the wires that you unplug identified and organized for your own sanity when you install the new one.

What does the little knob on my BMW dashboard, not the milage one, do?
There are two knobs on my BMW X5 2003. One cylces the trip mileage and resets it, where as there is one more that if tapped once, something called check control comes on, and when held down, it says Test 1, and then when you push it down it cycles through 23 Tests. I have waited like a minute or 2 to see what it does but nothing shows up or changes on the dashboard.
What does it do and how do i work it?What does the little knob on my BMW dashboard, not the milage one, do?I know on my 3 series it can show things like coolant temp, immediate fuel efficiency, and other not so important stats. I don't know how to work it on the X5 thoughWhat does the little knob on my BMW dashboard, not the milage one, do?It is best left alone by inquisitive owners or aspiring diy mechanics. What does the little knob on my BMW dashboard, not the milage one, do?It's the function test button for the ejection seats.walkie talkie

I have received a mail from The BMW International Awareness Promo 2008?
it says for winning a cash prize of 750000GBP and a new BMW x6 35i car. is that a fake mail.I have received a mail from The BMW International Awareness Promo 2008?SCAM!
Go to BMWUSA.com where they alert you it's a scam.I have received a mail from The BMW International Awareness Promo 2008?Yes. After all did you enter such a contest? Then how could you win? This is a typical scam. You should delete without opening any attachments. Do not answer. They will be after your bank details in some way either hacking into your computer through your responding or asking for you to send money or bank details for them to deposit funds. They may ask for you to cash a check (cheque where I come from) they send you to cover taxes which you pass through your account and send that cash amount to them or simply ask you to transfer from your account cash for this purpose. They may even give you phone nos. to call.
It is all a con. A woman last week was asking on YA what to do as someone had scammed her out of a few thousand dollars with a scam like this.I have received a mail from The BMW International Awareness Promo 2008?none of those emails are real. enough said.

Is it worth it buying a 1999 bmw 5 series with 90 miles on it?
My friend is selling his bmw for 6000 its 1999 5 series with 90,000 miles on it is it worth it.Is it worth it buying a 1999 bmw 5 series with 90 miles on it?No . . .
Any good accountant will tell you . . .
Never buy a car . . . or any asset that depreciates . . . especially cars . . .
Lease it . . . drive it and forget it.
Most cars can be lease from $10- $20 a day . . . cheaper than most taxi rides and you can drive them anywhere.
Cars are transportation not fashion statements and they do not provide anyone with prestige.
Look for the cheapest to operate, insure and lease and move on - your love affair should be with a human not a car.
Forget the sales and marketing push that you'll be a somebody with this or that car.
People that judge you buy the car you drive are shallow and add nothing to your life.
Treat a car like a taxi - it is just a ride from here to there. Is it worth it buying a 1999 bmw 5 series with 90 miles on it?Lol I like UDog's answer and is very true. However a good percentage of us myself included have an emotional motivation behind a car purchase. Being a BMW it's a good idea to take the car your looking at to a independent mechanic to look for things that will need replacement soon or immediately.
You can use that info if any to negotiate a better price as well since you'd have to do these repairs. Browse websites like bimmerfest.com or bimmerforums and search the E39 section since that's the chassis code for a 99 5 series. After buying an E36 328i 5 speed 10 years ago I've been in love with BMWs but it's because they drive awesomely. Most older ones don't have crazy power but the inline sixes in the ones that have them are addicting!

Should I put a supercharger on my BMW 325i?
I have a 2001 BMW 325i and am looking for a little more horsepower. The stock motor produces 184 HP. I learned about a supercharger/intercooler combination that will raise the output to 300 HP. Will this put too much stress on the engine, or would it be OK?Should I put a supercharger on my BMW 325i?Unless you have a professional engine tuner doing the work, plus a complete fuel system that goes with the supercharger, I would not do it. There are many reasons behind this. The number one being that if you bought a used E46 M3, you would get all those goodies and the car would already be built to handle all the extra power. Uprated brakes, tires, suspension, drive-line, fuel system, and etc. You could easily find one for under $20k. It is worth saving for a stock M3 because all the parts were meant to work together and you will save yourself a ton of headaches later.Should I put a supercharger on my BMW 325i?I think it would be ok to supercharge as it will boost the efficiency.Should I put a supercharger on my BMW 325i?+1 on everything jensen said. BMWs are best N/A. if you want more power get a tighter diff ratio.
How is the rev-matching in the bmw 335i automatic?
Looking into a new bmw 335i sedan.
For those of you who already own a 335i w/ steptronic, how is the rev-matching when you downshift? I know a lot of cars that do this well and not well, and the paddle shifters are a big thing for me, so how is it?
Any other complaints? How is the rev-matching in the bmw 335i automatic?Never driven one with paddle shifters, But there was a small but noticable lurch, Very minimal though, on going down through gears at high speeds, Also I know for a fact that the 335i and d both have major problems with the fuel pumps. I'd read into it before buying one, though BMW's warranty do cover the fuel pumps, IF it breaks withing the warrantly period, Ive heard of them going at 8k miles.

2004 BMW with chrome trim around the doors has really bad oxidation. I tried turtle wax chrome polish but that did not work, need something elseHow do I get the oxidation off of my chrome trim on my BMW?First, the bad news...your BMW's chrome isn't chrome. What should i do to increase the performance and power of my 1997 bmw z3 1.9L?
I bought a 1997 bmw z3 1.9L with 80,000 miles just a few months ago. Im trying to find the best way to increase the performance and power, manly power. I was think about a turbo kit or a supercharger. Not sure which one would be better. I would like to know what else would help as well. What should i do to increase the performance and power of my 1997 bmw z3 1.9L?it would be cheaper to sell your car and get a zm roadster or coupe 321bhp.What should i do to increase the performance and power of my 1997 bmw z3 1.9L?Uhhh, nice car, not so nice engine. Plus, those small engine versions have a much narrower track in the back than the stronger ones. Check out the euro tuners, and see what they have to offer, but it is far from cheap. It would probably be cheaper to trade your 1.9 for a 2.8 with more power and great torque, better stability and brakes, plus, if you ever wish for more power, it is really simple to tune. What should i do to increase the performance and power of my 1997 bmw z3 1.9L?hhhhmmm ..... upgrade or change ur spark plugs .... better fuel ? ..... better escape ? ... supercharger

Are these kits easy to install and do they actually look decent once they're in?Has anybody installed angel eyes on their BMW?A lot of people share his opinion , but I've seen them on many BMWs and as long as you don't get some funky color and get the thin rings they look stock and 99% of the population wouldn't know it wasn't stock . What should I check when my BMW 330Ci heated seats stop working?
I have a 2002 BMW 330Ci. Up until recently, it was working fine. This week, when I went to turn on the heated seats, the lights (for both seats) come on then shut off almost immediately. So, obviously, I'm getting no warmth. Anything I should check out before I haul it into my service center? What should I check when my BMW 330Ci heated seats stop working? It is probably a fuse. The owner's manual should tell you where the fuses are. They are probably in the glove box but I am not sure about this model.

How does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?
I recently came into possesion of my grandparents 2007 buick. My parents are allowing me to trade it in. I really want to get an 87' stick shift BMW..but my parents argue that its not going to be as safe as this 86' standard volvo i also had my eye on. Are they pretty much equal in stability? (in theory and asuming both cars have passed inspection and have a clean carfax report)How does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?Go with the BMW. Volvo's suck. A BMW is an ultimate driving machine. Remember that. How does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?
Volvo's are super safe super safe or if you could get a Mercedes Benz BMW not a good start later when you have more cash buy a BMW ok your choice ok just i'm giving you advice ok.How does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?Get something from 2000 and up. Old ones will die sometime soon. How does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?
I'll just keep it simple and straight to the point, with German and Swedish cars...you can't go wrong with safety. Buy either one, and you'll be fine. End of story.
A note about Carfax, if there has been damage and it has NOT been reported to the insurance comany, it will NOT show up on the Carfax Report. You should still have the car checked out by an independent inspector. How does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?Have a look at this:

Basically the bigger and NEWER the car the better. Cars from 86, 87 did not have airbags.
Also, old BMWs and I guess Volvo are worn out and cost a fortune to maintain.
A newer "boring" car is probably your best betHow does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?
both are the same man , BMW rockks in saffty , acceleration, topspeed, and its and sport car but volvo its safe and every thing but its not for young peaple it like for old *** grand fothers, plus BMW its beutiful compaired to a VOLVO. SO GO FOR THE BMW it is a relible car
Both are safe makes of car but Volvo is probably the safer of the two. However compared to a 2007 car both will be relatively unsafe. Neither will have airbags, side impact protection, traction control etc etc. Car safety has come on leaps and bounds in the last 20 years so you are really bothered about how safe the car is buy a newer one.
Or just get the BMW and forget about safety. It will be a far nicer car to drive than a 1980s Volvo which wil be like a tank in comparison.publishing companies

How expensive is it to replace BMW parts?
If I got a used BMW and needed to replace some parts how expensive would it be?How expensive is it to replace BMW parts?all european cars are usually expensive to maintain and order parts for.. so if money is an issue you should just get an american car or generic honda or toyota. wait until you have a good amount of money to get one.... but if you really want the style than do it.. people love those cars... but i think audi is better. you should look int audi they have cars pretty comparable to bmw.How expensive is it to replace BMW parts? It depends what parts you are looking for. General service related items such as air/oil filters, spark plugs, wiper blades are just as affordable as any other car; since you can get them at most car parts retailers like Autozone.
For other parts, you should check with places like www.bavauto.com.How expensive is it to replace BMW parts?OEM BMW parts are usually higher than US or Asian brands. Whatever you do, avoid using
Asian-produced parts on your BMW. Penny-wise and pound-foolish, you know. You will never go wrong using genuine, OEM, BMW parts. You just have to be ready to pay a premium for them. How expensive is it to replace BMW parts?
Depends on the year of the car. And a little on the model. The older they car the easier the OEM parts are to obtain without going thru the dealer.

How can I get into the BMW Step program?
I'm thinking about being a servie technician and I was wondering what are all the necessary steps I need to take in order to get into the BMW step program? How can I get into the BMW Step program?I am a STEP graduate (2006) and can share my specific experiences.
I found out about STEP on the internet. The website generally has all of the information you need and so I won't go into the details. I think it also has a list of technical colleges that they prefer graduates from.
I didn't live near any of the listed colleges, so I actually went to a local state funded college and got an Associate's Degree in Automotive Mechanics. When you graduate you must have a high GPA and nearly perfect attendance. I contacted STEP after graduating and they arranged an entrance exam and later an interview with the STEP coordinator.
When I went to STEP, I think everyone in my class of 15 except one (me) graduated from UTI. In fact, the STEP program is actually a UTI program, but is laid out and controlled by BMW, possibly BMW NA.
The program lasted six months and is pretty tough at times, but overall with general technical, electrical, and computer knowledge you will have to study hard but it won't be beyond your capability. There is another, shorter version of STEP that is 10 wks long, but is usually an extended training for technicians already working at dealerships.
When you are a month in STEP they will ask you to sign a commitment to work at a BMW dealership for at least 6 months (or possibly a year I can't remember) and many dealerships as individual companies ask technicians to sign longer contracts than that (mine was 3 yrs but came with a signing bonus). After graduating the six month program, you will need only 3 years of work experience and to be up to date in all your training after that time (new classes every year, e.g. diesel) to be a BMW Master Technician. Ordinarily it would take five years, STEP counts for two years and gets a LOT of classes out of the way right from the get-go.
I interviewed at three dealers w/i four hours of my original residence and found one that was just the right size for me (~10 techs) and is a very nice shop overall (climate controlled, floor-integrated lifts, only 5 yrs old) with a staff that is somewhat diverse and very friendly.
If you do go, you will probably be amazed what information you learn in six months (tens or hundreds of abbreviations, model designations, engine designations, BMW technology, etc.), but you will need to have hands-on experience which can only come with time. You will want to have some experience at a full service shop before graduating STEP and working at a dealership. The book smarts are a must for the smooth operation of the job, but the experience is only learned with time and thus is more valuable in comparison.
Keep your driving record clean.
I hope this helps. Check out the BMW STEP website: bmwstep.com. Click around and you'll find all the information you need. If you'd like to email me, use my alternate email address in my profile, I just made this jjjones one up to post and will probably never use it.How can I get into the BMW Step program?check with your local BMW dealer, ask the service manager

What are common problems of a BMW 318ti?
I own a BMW 318ti and I was driving it one day and all of a sudden when i was turning the car just shut down, i got it to start back up again and then later that day the same thing happened but only now it won't even start or turnover when we try to start it. And I just recently replaced the battery. Does anyone know what the problem might be?What are common problems of a BMW 318ti?My 318ti recently had to have its mass airflow meter replaced. After years of use, the flap can jam; causing insufficient air to get into the engine. This translates to inability to idle, dirty exhaust gases.
According to the mechanic who replaced the part, it's a common problem for most older BMW, but especially the 4 cylinder models.
Luckily, my ti is a manual, so I was able to keep the revs high enough to drive to the garage. I figured if I had an auto, it would be pretty hard, or maybe I would need to get my feet on both gas and brakes!
Good luck! What are common problems of a BMW 318ti?i was driving my 96 318ti one night and it just shut off in the middle of the road. then i turned it back on and it wouldnt go past 2 gear (the car is automatic) and all the lights came on abs, airbag, check engine. took it to my dads shop he hooked it up to his scanner cleaned all the codes and then it was fine. it only did that once but it was really weird

What are my other options for BMW transmission fluid?
I don鈥檛 have the money to buy it from the dealer it鈥檚 just so expensive just spent my money rebuilding the transmission can I use AutoZone Products?
I own BMW 323i 2000What are my other options for BMW transmission fluid?NO WAY!!!! The BMW trans(and 90% of the other Euro transses) is built by the ZF company. They require a special fluid. It is either golden or purply-blue in color, and has TOTALLY different coefficients of friction and lubricity. Try to find a foreign car parts store that carries the full line-up of PENTOSIN products. Or use the Internet to shop for you. You should be able to get it for about $6/liter. If you live in Michigan, try calling S%26amp;G auto parts, 248-477-0410. Why did your trans NEED to get rebuilt???What are my other options for BMW transmission fluid?you can use flui d that is up to bmw spec BUT do not use cheap as if itwrecksyour box you aint goin to b a happy bunny. wait till you can aford good qualityWhat are my other options for BMW transmission fluid?I have an old, (88 735i), and have used their transmission fluid. Just make sure it is the same grade. But did you have the tranny rebuilt and does it have a warranty? If so, you may be stuck using the BMW recommended for that. You can check the link and see if it is less expensive online, but it will still be fairly high. What are my other options for BMW transmission fluid?
Oils have weights and other service qualifications on their labels. Match the oil you want to buy to the weight and service that BMW oil says it is. AutoZone will have oil you can use. They will have a catalog near the oil display you can use to look up your correct fluid.

How many miles can a 1989 BMW 3series go for?
My boyfriend is trying to get me to buy a 1989 BMW 3 series from his father.
It has over 200k miles on it and he wants 1500 for it which includes him repairing the broken transmission.
I am unsure if this is a good thing to do or not.
So I was hoping someone could tell me how long these things last for, and if it is worth buying.

Is it possible to lease a bmw that you can customize yourself ?
Possible to lease a customized bmw that you picked out the leather and everything and then lease it ?Is it possible to lease a bmw that you can customize yourself ?Yes, it is possible to customize a car and lease that vehicle. The issue is the lead time (wait) for that car. I believe it is 12-16 weeks to wait for a car customized to your specifications. Such waits are normal in Europe but, not in the US. Most US buyers want to go home with a car the moment they pay the money. That would not be possible with a car customized to your specifications. You can shorten the time a little and save money as well by doing BMW's European Delivery program (this entitles you to a nice European driving vacation as well). Still, even with European Delivery, there is still a wait. BMW also offers enhanced customization via the BMW Individual program. The BMW Individual program allows choices of colors, materials, and options not available to "regular" BMWs. In Europe, BMW Individual is available for all model lines. In the USA, BMW Individual is limited to the 7-series only (as far as I know). BMW Individual is similar to Mercedes Designo options if you are familiar with that program.
Where can i buy a salvaged bmw 6 series?
Im looking to buy a salvaged used bmw 6 series, and want to be able to drive it also before i buy...
is this possible?Where can i buy a salvaged bmw 6 series?Try copart.com - huge auction site for salvage vehicles.
Sounds like you're wanting the image without doing the research. Do you know about salvage vehicles? Do you know how difficult it will be to insure a salvage 6-series?
And "driving before I buy it" won't happen. Plus, that won't be enough of a test to insure anything. If you find one, make sure a licensed mechanic checks it over thoroughly before buying.Where can i buy a salvaged bmw 6 series?generally if its drivable its not salvaged........and since the car si worth way more in parts than it is to salvage out then u probably wont find one for sale....Where can i buy a salvaged bmw 6 series?A 6 series? Well, I suppose there is one somewhere, but it wont be anywhere you might look for one. A find like that is ALWAYS a stumble upon. In fact, it's likely to never actually see the yard. You can try the insurance totals on LaPalma in Anaheim, CA but man, you got to be on top of that kind of stuff, grease plenty of palms so that they remember to call you when they see it, otherwise, no bueno. Drive before you buy? Hey, if you even found one you would be lucky if it has ANY wheels on it at all. No, no drive salvage like that before you buy, and don't take too long looking at it because when you go in for it you might find that someone bought it right out from under you while you were checking it out. I've seen it happen.Where can i buy a salvaged bmw 6 series?
Yes, but 6-series salvage are limited. Since they are the most sought after salvages because they are easily replaceable. I can help you buy one although its going to be tough, contact me.

An M3iXHow do I Make my 2003 BMW 325iX as fast as possible?
Kenny is correct about money not being an issue, you would have purchased the new BMW with twin turbos.
But to answer your question, you can swap the engine for the new engine with the twin turbos. You would have to recalibrate the computer system completely to operate with the new engine. That would be an extremely expensive swap due to the complexity of the engine and modification work.
You can purchase a turbo that would work with your current engine but you would have to get the engine rebuilt to withstand the boost. Once again, you would have to reprogram the computer.

How do you fold in a BMW 3 series coupe's wing mirrors?
Heya,
We have just got a BMW 3 series with electronic wing mirrors and the manual says there is a button inside the car that folds them in automatically. We have tried many times with no luck. Is there a way to fold em manually?
Thanks alotHow do you fold in a BMW 3 series coupe's wing mirrors? If its a right side drive bmw, the button should be to the right of the wheel next to the light dimmer switches etc.
Sometime depending on the BMW design, its certainly possible to close them manually. The mirrors usually fold upwards, as oppposed to folding them inwards
