I cannot find the price differences online. I know how much BMWs cost in America, but I cannot find the prices on any BMW in Europe to see if it is cheaper to purchase them there.I heard BMW vehicles are cheaper when you buy them in Europe. Does anyone know if this is a fact?I've participated in the BMW European Delivery (ED) Program for the past 4 years, most recently last month. It will save you 7% off the price. If you travel to Munich on airline frequent flyer points as I did, the savings is naturally greater.
It's interesting M models are now a part of the ED Program, where it wasn't when I took delivery of my 2008 M5 in Nov '07. I suspect dwindling sales and the general malaise in the global economy has influenced this change.
Delivery at BMW Welt (World) in Munich is a great experience, so well organized. Europeans who opt for delivery at BMW Welt actually pay a premium to do this. (If your prescribed delivery time is set for 10:25 a.m., they're not kidding, be there at 10:25 a.m.!)
The greatest downside of ED is the wait for your car to arrive back in the US. The order lead time is typically 90 days, i.e., if you want to take delivery on 01 Sept, you must place your order with your BMW dealer by 01 Jun.
As for the comment about Spartanburg - select models are produced there. 1, 3, 5, 6 %26amp; 7 series cars for the US market are produced in Germany.
And the comment about cheaper build quality and less safe BMW Euro spec vehicles, even 20 yrs ago, is both untrue and plain absurd. Do you, for a minute, believe that in the land of the "drive-as-fast-as your-car-can-go" Autobahn, the safety standards for home market models would be less stringent than those for the US?I heard BMW vehicles are cheaper when you buy them in Europe. Does anyone know if this is a fact?
Its been a long time since I imported any BMW since BMW has not made a car I want for more than 20 years. Back them you could get them cheaper since the euro models were cheaper to build becasue of lax safety requirements in Europe. If you bought a stripped down one with cloth seats and no power windows and locks ect. you naturally saved money. If you ordered one with all the usual options the US models mostly came with that were ordered by the dealers you save just a tiny bit of money but just not enough to go thru the process or dealing with BMW. These days you would have to be a car nut and want the euro looks with all the German writing on the dash and all that fluff to even do this.
Back in the days there were importers who would order a huge batch of Euro model cars and with the batch cost they could make money while saving you money. Not sure it works that way anymore.I heard BMW vehicles are cheaper when you buy them in Europe. Does anyone know if this is a fact? There is a program called European delivery. They deduct about 7% off the price of your car you order in USA. When it's built, you go to Germany and pick it up and drive it there for up to two weeks on their insurance, then drop it off and they will ship it to you in the states. You get it about 5 weeks later. Shipping is included in the price of the car already, so it's the same. So basically yes the car is cheaper, the idea is you spend what you saved on a vacation to Europe.
I'm doing this for my new M3, really looking forward to it. I'm sure people are going to say you can't do it for an M car. But that very recently changed.
You will find all the models and the savings listed here http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/E…
M333 is 100% correct, you pay less for the car, but you have to go get it. From what i've heard european delivery is awesome, everyone who does it has nothing but great things to say.I heard BMW vehicles are cheaper when you buy them in Europe. Does anyone know if this is a fact?Considering that a lot of BMWs are made in Spartansburg, it hardly seems worth the effort of purchasing a European-made BMW, dealing with import taxes, just to bring it here.
Unless it's a custom BMW.I heard BMW vehicles are cheaper when you buy them in Europe. Does anyone know if this is a fact?
It actually cost more in some places
with shipping its got to be atleast even but our dollar is so weak right now i would imagine that it costs even more to get it from europe.I heard BMW vehicles are cheaper when you buy them in Europe. Does anyone know if this is a fact?
Even if it is cheaper, you would have to pay for shipping costs. Which might even it out but who knows
its not true
