As a BMW owner, I can tell you that there are parts that are tasteful and other parts that are downright awful. I put a LOT of effort into researching every modification I make on my car before I do it. I wouldn't suggest buying something for his car without running it by him first. You may lose the element of surprise, but he will be much happier in the long run.



Compare it to him buying you an ugly dress in the wrong size instead of him taking you shopping or at least discussing what size you are and what brand, color and style you may like.

BMW has a decklid spoiler that really enhances the look of the car. It's not big, it's rather subtle but certainly does the job. You can probably get the oem part and professionally painted for under $1000.
