I would go with the BMW, because it is more reliable than Honda, and it is a better car all around. Also even though it is older, it would have a better resale value than a Honda, think about it, how many hondas have you seen for $20,000 that are as old as the BMW, none because they dont hold their value as well. With repair costs, yes a BMW is more expensive to maintain, but with it being German engineering, there shouldnt be major repairs because German cars are built soo much better.Should i go for a used bmw under 20000 or a new honda accord coupe? It depends what you mean. If your question has to do with reliability, expenses...etc. You've already got a bunch of answers here.
A BMW under $20k will likely be a 4 year old car. As with many other cars, you will need to have major scheduled services as well as worn parts changed out. Without warranty, most BMW dealer labor rates are at $95 - $110 per hour. So your cost of owning a BMW isn't really $20k.
With a new Honda, everything's new, and with Honda being a reliable Japanese make, you will likely not need any kind of repairs (other than scheduled services) for at least the first 3-4 years.
Honda uses regular gas whereas BMW needs premium gas. So you will save some money on the running costs.
...................BUT................…
If your question has to do with the "driving experience", why don't you go drive both of them and decide for yourself? The major difference between a BMW vs anything else is the driving sensation.
For example, most people who have never driven a BMW before will find the BMW steering to be "heavy". This is all part of the "ultimate driving machine" that makes the BMW different. The heavy steering gives more feedback that drivers can "feel" more of the road (and hence, traction).
In other words, a BMW is FUN to drive for people who ENJOY driving. And this comes at a price premium over other cars.
For people who just want a point-A-to-point-B-car, reliability, running costs, practicality...etc plays a more important role than driving experience.
Or, if you are considering a BMW for the sake of the BMW name, then I would recommend the Honda instead.
I could only tell you about my exprience a bout bmw i had bmw it is not a bad car good looking but can get really annoying plus the parts are really expensive for example if you break the cd player you will have to give a lot to get it done or exaust engine all parts it has is expensive.
I thing honda is a better choice for your budget.Should i go for a used bmw under 20000 or a new honda accord coupe? For the same price, definitely get the BMW with 20,000 miles over a new Accord. The only downside to the BMW is that when the warranty is up after 50,000 miles it is a fortune to do any routine maintenance and any repairs, so you need to promise yourself you'll sell it after you hit 50,000 miles.Should i go for a used bmw under 20000 or a new honda accord coupe?
honda unless you have a very thick wallet ., then hey buy the BMW
I would go for a new honda accord coupe. This is coming from a bmw owner. a used bmw for under 20k will probably not have any warranty left. Also when the lease on my 2003 330xi was over, the buyback was $34k (canadian). So I don't know how many km's or which bmw series you are looking at but repairs of bmws are very costly when they are not covered by the warranty.
Also I had always used 91 octane on my bmws, gas will def be cheaper on a honda accord and insurance the same
If you do buy the bmw coupe, just be prepared for any costly repairs, don't blow all your money into a car.Should i go for a used bmw under 20000 or a new honda accord coupe?
If the bmw still has the warranty for the time you plan to own it, go for it. You will probably lose less value on a used bmw vs a new honda (ie get more of your money back in 3-4 years) . If no waranty, get the Honda. The bmw will be way to much to maintain. But they are such fun to drive.
I would rather have a used BMW than a new anything....
accord coupe..
da bmw mite
have reliability problems.
I would go with the Honda Accord.
I have driven every BMW except for the M cars and the Z4.
There is nothing special about BMW's.
The Accord coupe is the better buy. You get more for the money and the Accord coupe is faster than Most BMW's.
The Accord is just a nicer car to drive.
If it's street cred you're looking for then go with the BMW. If it's dependability and low maintenance you want then Honda is the car of choice. To the dope that thinks Honda is less dependable than BMW -- wake up. European engineering today equals looney-tunes maintenance and repair costs, constant trips to the service dept., triple the insurance costs and a resale 2/3's that of a Honda Accord. BMW's, while beautiful to behold and perfect to drive, are famous for the never ending electrical, transmission, fuel and drive line demons that posses them. The cars are so packed with silly electronic gizmos that it is impossible to keep them all working and calibrated properly. My advice: buy a two year old Accord. Most of the depreciation hit will be taken by the original owner, the car will take you anywhere you need to go for years on end with minimal upkeep and you will be able to sell it for a premium.
I own two BMWs and I would advise you to buy the Honda UNLESS you are buying the BMW from a BMW dealer with a Certified Pre Owned Warranty.
You do not want to be "naked" (driving without a warranty) on a BMW unless you or someone you know very well are mechanically inclined.
Don't be a poser, go for the new Honda...
Personally, I would go with the BMW, but i happen to be biased. I am 19 years old, and took out a loan to buy my 98 bmw 328is, all it took was one test drive. yeah they may cost more to fix, but there are cheaper ways to fix your bmw than bringing it to the dealership. After driving the Bimmer, you won't regret it. Even if you only need to get from point A to B, you'll still have fun. I've driven many cars, mostly relatives', including new corvettes, trans ams, civics, accords, mustangs, and countless others at my job (valet). None compare to the elegant feeling of driving a nice bmw. I love mine so much, I changed my degree from Criminal Justice, to Automotive so I can get a job at the BMW dealership.
