Is it safe to buy a 2000 BMW 325i with 65K on it?

Hi,

I'm thinking to buy a 2000 BMW 325i sports package. It has got 65000 mileage on it.

What problems do we get after 65000 mileage and how safe is it to buy after 65K?

They say hondas, toyotas run more than 150K. How about BMW's?

Also, please suggest me the best price I can shoot. It is priced at 8500.

Is it safe to buy a 2000 BMW 325i with 65K on it?I'd look into the car to find out more about problems you might encounter with this specific model but for the most part BMWs will last for quite a long time, a lot longer than most hondas or toyotas. They don't praise German engineering for nothing.

I've heard of most BMWs lasting more then 150-175k.Is it safe to buy a 2000 BMW 325i with 65K on it?
With out it's service history your buying a ''pig in a poke'' i.e. unknown. Could be OK but to be safe and sure it's not a wreck waiting to fall apart have it fully checked over or walk away.Is it safe to buy a 2000 BMW 325i with 65K on it?As I know such a car cost a lot to insure. Check your insurance quotes for these cars before buing one - carinsurance.yoll.netIs it safe to buy a 2000 BMW 325i with 65K on it?
First of all, if it's 2000, its a 323 or 328. Go for the 328 because it has more power. There are many failure points on these cars that you absolutely must check before buying, otherwise it will bite you in the ***. Sellers will swear up and down that their cars are the most pristine, reliable, wonderful cars on the road, but they are all scumbags. First thing, a biggie, is the engine. It's casted from aluminum. It's lightweight and very reliable, however, it's sensitive to heat. If it overheated, pass on it because the cylinder head can crack and the short block can warp. Next, check ALL warning lights. When you turn the key to position 2, all warning lights should illuminate. When the car starts, systems that do not have faults, shut the warning lamp off. SES, EGS, SRS, DSC, ABS, are all biggies, make sure there are shut off. The interiors fall apart in warm climates, you should be the judge of that. The moonroof is very delicate, you should check it to see if it works, in case you're into that. Next, take it for a test drive; check for road noise (bearings/tires) and thunks and pulling (control arms/bushings/alignment). Speakers usually get destroyed from people pounding the radio too hard, I'd check them. On the test drive, make sure that the transmission shifts through all gears and responds to kick downs. Power window regulators die all the time as well. These are the things I'd recommend you look into before buying this car. Pay only $8k if it is perfect. If not, haggle to $6K. It's worth $6 based off of it's year and engine. If maintained properly, this car can hit 200,000 miles no problem. Good luck
