Is BMW maintenance expensive if you DIY?

I'm planning on buying a 2006 325i that just went out of warranty. I'm pretty good mechanically.. So is the BMW a do it yourself car? Or does it require special tools and knowledge to fix?Is BMW maintenance expensive if you DIY?Yes the parts are still very expensive. You don't just go down to your local parts store to buy them either. Is BMW maintenance expensive if you DIY?No not expensive at all. At least here in europe the spare parts are pretty cheap. You may need some special tools for some work. But these "special tools" are not that special. And if you know what you are doing, you can do without them. It's more for mechanics that need to get things fixed and assembled fast that's all they are made for. Go join a bmw internet forum and you get all the help you need. Good luck.Is BMW maintenance expensive if you DIY?Routine maintenance should not be beyond the capabilities of a well equipped DIY mechanic. There are peculiarities though so I also suggest you find an owners forum on the internet to avail yourself of the particular knowledge needed to succeed as part of equipping yourself.
