How To Reset BMW Oil Service Light?

Hello there, I am planning to buy a 1999-2003 BMW 3 Series. I am not certain which one, most likely a 2000.

When its time to change the oil and the light is on, how do I get rid of the Oil Service Light?

I've seen videos on dash resets, would that help? Or would I need a little machine?

Thanks!How To Reset BMW Oil Service Light?It sounds like all 2000 and earlier 3-series need a special tool (re-setter tool No. 61 1 110). These are used on models with the Underhood Diagnostic Connector.

They seem to have changed it on 2001 and later 3-series. The procedure for those is as follows;

Turn ignition Off.

Press and hold trip odometer reset button, then turn ignition to "1" (Accessory).

Keep odometer reset button depressed for approximately five more seconds until any of following words appear in display: "Oil Service " or "Inspection" with " Reset" or "Re." On models equipped with high cluster, remaining amount of fuel in liters until next service is displayed should appear.

Depress and hold odometer reset button again for approximately five more seconds until words "Reset" or " Re" flash. If flash does not occur, this indicates minimum consumption value has not been achieved. Vehicle must be driven approximately 50-75 miles or until at least 21/2 gallons of fuel have been consumed.

Briefly depress reset button while display is flashing.

New interval should now be displayed.

After new interval appears, watch for "END SIA" to appear in display for approximately two seconds.How To Reset BMW Oil Service Light?Just disconnect your battery for about 30 minutes and then reconnect it. That should do the trick.How To Reset BMW Oil Service Light?there should be a oil service light switch in the glove box or near by just press and hold until it goes off.How To Reset BMW Oil Service Light?
