The overall reliability seems to be in question, especially for the MB SL500 and other Mercedes. BMW doesn't fair too badly, but bad enough -- fair grades for the 650 %26amp; 750's. Both are better than VW/Audi but nothing great still.
Luxury cars usually are full of new sensors and gadgets. Any time you use new technology you run a risk of it having some bugs.
Consumer Reports isn't the most accurate ratings out there. For years they automatically gave Toyota a good rating without even testing them many of them. They changed that this year because of Toyota's ongoing quality issues on newer vehicles. Its very likely they do the same with other makes.

I question them also. You must consider what replacement parts and labor costs are on off - shore high dollar cars. They'll give you an aneurysm.
