Does anyone know what to do about putting the wrong type of gas in a BMW?

I put the wrong type of gas in my BMW and it started sounding like a diesel car and it would shake at the stop light. I put in $15.00 of cheap gas in my car. When this happened I put in $30.00 of premium in my tank and added a Lucas Octane booster. It calmed down but still shakes at the stop light. I filled up the tank again today with premiun. Still shaking. Does anyone have any idea if it goes away and if so how long.Does anyone know what to do about putting the wrong type of gas in a BMW?complete coincidence here. Putting lower grade fuel in any car will not cause this instant of a problem.

Sounds like you may have a problem with your coils or fuel pump. Plugs could be really dirty too or a combination of all of the above.

you should get it checked out at a reputable BMW mechanic. don't pay dealer prices for nothing though.Does anyone know what to do about putting the wrong type of gas in a BMW?
Might have picked up some water. Get some "water remover" or just straight alcohol sine that's what in most all run of the mill gas additives. Next time you put a question here about the BMW put in the year and model it makes a big difference. Just wanted to say since the last answer was wrong about the octane used. BMW for years has required 92 in most models and the engine management system can not make adjustments when low octane fuel is used. And it can and does damage the engine in a lot of BMW engines.Does anyone know what to do about putting the wrong type of gas in a BMW?That is NOT normal.

The engine is designed to 'make due' with cheaper fuel, unless there's water in it of course.\

The engine electronics can make the engine run on low octane fuel with minimal problems, just increased power loss.

You don mention what model of BMW you're driving.......... you could be driving a 1978 320i or a 2010 M3... please be more specific next time.

You have a misfire, and a check engine light I'll assume. some BMW models are common to have ignition coil problems (there is likely one coil per cylinder on your car).

Bring it into a proper repair shop that works specifically on BMW's, or a BMW dealer. El Houlio's Mexican repair shop won't cut it.\

Putting in that LITTLE regular fuel shouldn't have caused this problem, at least not this bad!Does anyone know what to do about putting the wrong type of gas in a BMW?
I think you might have thrown something. I don't think this is going away. Sorry. Try and check it out yourself or take it to a mechanic.Does anyone know what to do about putting the wrong type of gas in a BMW?i run mine on cheap gas and it hesitates at the top of the rpms....i think theres something wrong with your car. 328i by the way
