I do know the answer as I have been a BMW owner and fanatic for over 10 years.



No, you can't play music from your phone via bluetooth.



You can play music from your phone if you connect it via a cable to your car.



Your car could have been specified with a USB and aux-in (3.5 mm jack) point under the arm-rest. If it did, you just plug your phone into the 3.5 mm jack and play the music from your phone. If Aux-In is selected from the head unit, it will play through the car.



If it doesn't have the USB and Aux-In, it can be retrofitted by BMW as is relatively cheap (and will add value to your car). Details of the retrofit can be found at:

If you do this, you could play the music from a memory stick via the USB and control the music from the steering wheel.



I use a 64GB USB stick and have 1,000's of tracks to listen to. Ripping from my CD's took weeks!!

For instance, my head unit is bluetooth equipped. But, all I can do with it is caller ID and hands free calling. This is because my carrier has my phone locked up tighter than fort knox. The phone is made for it, The stereo is made for it. But, my carrier thinks it necessary to make my phone a useless piece of crap. I'm sure they would lock out all calling if they could.



The best way to figure out if it will work is to try it out.
